JayTeeDee presents The Blizzard of 2009

 <itunes:subtitle>
The Storm of the Century, also known as the ’93 Superstorm, No-Name Hurricane, the White Hurri</itunes:subtitle>

<br>
The Storm of the Century, also known as the ’93 Superstorm, No-Name Hurricane, the White Hurricane, or the (Great) Blizzard of 1993, was a large cyclonic storm that occurred on March 12 – March 15, 1993, on the East Coast of North America. It is unique for its intensity, massive size and wide-reaching effect. At its height the storm stretched from Canada to Central America, but its main impact was on the Eastern United States and Cuba. Areas as far south as central Alabama and Georgia received 6 to 8 inches of snow and areas such as <b>Birmingham, Alabama</b>, received up to 12 inches with isolated reports of 16 inches. Even the Florida Panhandle reported up to 2 inches, with hurricane-force wind gusts and record low barometric pressures. Between Florida and Cuba, hurricane-force winds produced extreme storm surges in the Gulf of Mexico, which along with scattered tornadoes killed dozens of people...

March 1, 2009 visible snow covers Birmingham for the first time 16 years later... Was today just the calm that comes before?

 <itunes:subtitle>Ships at a distance have every man's wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others </itunes:subtitle>

Ships at a distance have every man's wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others they sail forever on the horizon, never out of sight, never landing until the watcher turns his eyes away in resignation, his dreams mocked to death by time. That is the life of men. Now, women forget all those things they don't want to remember and remember everything they don't want to forget. The dream is the truth. Then they act and do things accordingly.

Wikipedia: New Jack Swing, or "swingbeat"[1], is a hybrid style popular from the late-1980s into the mid-1990s, which fuses hip-hop with rhythms, samples and production techniques with the urban contemporary sound of R&B. The new jack swing style developed as many previous R&B styles did, by combining elements of older styles with newer trends. It uses mellifluously soulful solo or harmonizing vocals sung over rhythms and "street" beats derived from urban musical influences. The sound of New Jack Swing comes from the hip hop "swing" beats created by drum machine, and hardware samplers, which was popular during the golden age of hip hop, with contemporary R&B style singing.

This is America. And to the extent that it's institutions manage to exclude or diminish it's people, they will nonetheless find a way to play. In the Baltimore ghetto, and ultimately, in those working-class neighborhoods of the city where hope and opportunity are dying, there are souls who will not be denied a turn--even if it proves brutal or foolish or self-destructive. And whatever is excluded from the mainstream will eventually surface as a society--an economy, in fact--entirely apart. The Snotboogies of the world are comical and tragic and doomed; but they are also eternal, and at some point you must let them play.
